SENIOR LEARNING SCIENTIST/ENGINEER
SENIOR LEARNING SCIENTIST/ENGINEER, Office of Digital Learning (ODL), to leverage STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and learning sciences (LS) expertise to advance digital learning innovation and impact at MIT. Responsibilities will include leading applied educational research efforts within ODL Residential Education; working with faculty and course teams to design, develop, implement, and evaluate digital learning innovations; coordinating the systematic translation of best practices from learning and cognition research into practice; and working with departments, faculty, digital learning scientists, and others across MIT to foster adoption of best practices through direct consultation, outreach, workshops, and other effective means.
REQUIRED: STEM Ph.D. and postdoctoral training or additional work experience; demonstrated proficiency applying learning sciences and research-based teaching practices across a range of instructional modes (face-to-face/blended/fully online) in one or more STEM field(s); significant experience in educational research and/or discipline-based educational research; proficiency evaluating the effectiveness of learning materials and quickly mastering new technologies for teaching and learning; demonstrated success and exceptional skill working with faculty to foster instructional innovation; superior communication and relationship-building skills; demonstrated ability to conceive, implement, and assess organizational initiatives to drive change; experience successfully leading teams; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; skill and flexibility needed to achieve results within a highly fluid organization; and experience with task-centered instruction and other frameworks that go beyond learning objectives.
